Build logs from a single-box edge data center

Anvil's Edge

Running a real agentic AI stack on hardware the industry wrote off.

Most AI infrastructure talk assumes racks of new GPUs and a cloud bill to match. This blog goes the other way. The whole "data center" here is one 2013 Mac Pro, the cylinder people called the trash can, running Proxmox as the hypervisor and a K3s cluster on top. Harbor holds the container images, GitLab runs source and CI, Vault keeps the secrets, and a Hermes agent does real work backed by a locally served Qwen model. Services find each other with Bonjour, so nothing needs a hard-coded address.

The goal isn't to beat a data center. It's to find out how much useful, private, agentic AI fits in one quiet box on a desk, and to write down everything that breaks along the way.
